A guttural groan was mumbled out in an incoherent sentence; by someone stretched out on the other sofa: it' was Yolanda.

Tiana staggered back onto the sofa and closed her eyes as the world started to spin.

"Damn you, Tao," she muttered into the silence of the night.

We shouldn't be here!

Tiana overestimated Tao's sobriety. He ended up bringing them to his place instead of Yoyo's.

Yolanda threw her hand over the side of the couch and snapped at an imaginary maid for a bottle of water. Tiana looked at her friend and wondered how she wasn’t passed out drunk. Despite Tiana’s condition, her ability to sense fear wasn’t dulled. She could feel her heart hammering inside her chest, but her body was too lax to move.

Tiana’s paranoia was no match against her drunkenness as her head once again lolled to the side, throwing her back into the realm of dreams.

Tao laid outstretched on top of his beige comforter with his face buried under the pillows on his bed. He was wrecked. Tao rarely drank more than two beers. However, at Yolanda's urging, he surpassed his record earlier that night, guzzling down six shots of patron, three beers, and a few fruity drinks with umbrellas. He should have passed out behind the wheel, but somehow Tao made it home. He succeeded in kicking one shoe off before falling onto his bed face first.

It wasn’t long into the night before the shadowy figure of an entity snuck its way into his room. Its insistent grunting and yapping stirred Tao from his slumber, but his eyes remained closed. His legs twitched and strained. Sleep paralysis had overtaken him. Tao's fingers clutched at his bed sheets, prying at the dark shadows churning around him. He couldn’t see what was binding him, but it felt like time and space were closing in.

He struggled to fight the evil presence. His martial art skills couldn’t aid him in the spiritual realm. Tao’s body slackened when the figure took on a familiar appearance. Half of Tao's willpower was reluctant to fight back. The face of the woman he once loved was attached to the entity. Tao's mind revolted, urging him to succumb to her and give up the fight.

No, Inyoku, don't do this, don't. I don't want to fight you... no!
